Monthly Moments: March

I swear this month was filled with so many activities and just spending so much time with friends that it went by so fast! For my monthly moments for March I was able to focus on first time experiences, embracing womanhood, and being amongst my community!

  1. Furball
    • I volunteer for a local shelter and they had recently had their annual gala fundraiser! I wanted to attend but tickets were a little on the expensive side. However, they did open up shifts for volunteers to help with set up and other tasks durning the gala! We had a small but wild handful of puppies and kitties to join us for the event and may I say it makes volunteering all the worth! The puppies were a terrier mix named Emmet, Jasper, and Renesmee (yes, named after exactly what you’re thinking), and they had to be 3-4 months but they had the energy and fight of a one year old. The kitties were much younger, had to be a month or two and they were domestic shorthairs. I don’t remember there names but I think they all had a C name cause there was like four of them.
  2. Ballet
    • I’m a total sucker for live theater performances, I always saw them as annoying and boring growing up but as an adult I can really appreciate being so close to the performers, the art they create, and the hard work they put into making it perfect. I’ve never seen the Philadelphia Ballet before this experience. There was three different performances and two intermissions between each. My favorite however was the Bolero, which was absolutely mesmerizing! In art, I’m absolutely obsessed with Greek marble sculptures because of the way they show case a human body and very real human emotions through a piece of stone. This performance I think did a job that feels so exact to those sculptures. During the preformance you can really see the tendons and structure of each muscle that has been made and damage over and over again for art.
  3. International Women’s day
    • This month was also Women’s history month with International Women’s day on March 8th (Which was weirdly enough removed from Google and Apple calendar but can’t say I’m surprised that billion dollar companies don’t care about women.) This International Women’s Day I decided to take an extra self care day with the inclusion of creativity. I had gone up to the Poconos and created an original piece to represent how I felt this year so far as a women. Anger, fear, fearless, masculine, and powerful. Men find women intimidating because we go through resistance and belittling starting from a young age. That being “mature” for our age is a good thing, when it reality we had done it purely out of instinct and survival. When I reached my teen years, I found it so hard to accept myself as a woman. That I would have to fight for my place in everyday life, that I will always have to look over both shoulders in the dark, and that to most men I’m just a pawn to be conquered. Worst of all, I would have to become a mother and be at the will of my husband. But with the powerful and diverse woman in my life that I’m forever grateful to have, men are scared of us because not only can we do what they do 10x better be we can do so much more than they could ever imagine. I see men’s disrespect as jealousy that I knew what empathy was from a young age that I can move mountains and raise children at the same time if I chose too, just like my mother did. I will always have a choice and no man will ever take that from me.
  4. Shows I watched
    • In most of my posts, I talk about how I’m not a huge show junkie, even though I will always be sat for reality television. Which is exactly the type of month I had. My best friend had got me onto Temptation Island. This show makes me absolutely infuriated and shocked that couples are so sure of being on this type of show! Four couple come onto an island (with cheating having already occurred in the one year relationship), and live in separate villas for I don’t remember how long. But while in these Villas, one for the girlfriends and one for the boyfriends they also have to live with 12 singles of the opposite sex. 12 single women in the men’s villa and 12 single men in the women’s villa. They are expected to go on dates with these singles and then at the end of the dating period the couples have separate bonfires where the boyfriends and girlfriends see their significant other practically cheat on each other. It’s…it feels like a really bad social experiment. But! You can find it on Netflix only and there is just one season with 10 episode that are around an hour long, but trust me it goes by fast.
  5. Movies I watched
    • Shows out of the way, I’m a huge movie lover I just find it easier for me to sit through an hour or two of a whole story than hours and weeks worth. So this month I saw Mickey 17. I was a big horror junkie, but with the rise in sci-fi I find myself having more enjoyment watching those types of movies. From The Substance, Alien Romulus, and now this, I’m very excited to see what else comes next. Something I loved so much about movies from the 80’s is how creative they are! Horror movie’s these days show real life fears that women have and smack a title on it and call it a horror movie. Like yes male director that IS scary I don’t need you to make a two hour movie about it. But the 80’s had originally created serial killers like Chucky and Michael Meyers and aliens and story lines that follow killer yogurt or killer Klowns. But the most recent sci-fi and horror movies feel like they have that spark of creativity and world building. What was so great about Mickey 17 is that it felt very appropriate for the time and had magnificent world building. And Robert Pattinson just does such a great job portraying a dorky character. I don’t want to spoil it too much but if you’re looking for some comedy, science, and adventure, give this movie a try!
  6. Books I finished
    • Tragically I did not get through a whole lot of books, although I did get through most of my Taurus Self-Care book. I always try to find ways to connect myself back to my star roots and earthly elements. I’ve noticed that I feel like I am filling my cup first and finding myself when I use the books tips on self care supported by my star signs. It’s also a great way to pick up new self care habits that you can use day to day! It made me realize that self care doesn’t have to be something that is earned but something that we as humans deserve in basic day to day life.

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you have a wonderful day!
