Gardens of Tomorrow

This past week I was privileged enough to take myself to the annual Flower Show brought together by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. Every year they have a different themes that they base the flowers, sculptures, and layout around. This year, Gardens of Tomorrow, focuses on uplifting the idea of the future for nature. That even through dark moments, it’s important to help support and love the nature around us, cause at the end of the day she was here before all of us. This is her home, we are just roommates. Even though roommates can be scary and stressful, they can also be the people who teach us important life lessons and become our forever friends!

But the theme was perfect timing, being educated and letting nature do what it needs is so important. As humans we build so many things to only leave them to become abandoned and rotten. (Check out Bright Sun Films just to see the hundreds of buildings that are left to decompose.) So why do we keep creating more apartments complexes and shopping malls on a once lush landscape to eventually crumble and be left behind? Drexel has built about 3 new giant, hideous glass buildings in the past year and a half. An eye sore for the Philly skyline, but also not allowing any place for flora to blossom and run up and down the building provide color and life that Drexel so very much lacks. Instead it is going to become another building that’ll rot from the inside out and end up just like the rest of the buildings on campus. The elevators will stop working, they won’t even bother to keep furniture up to date, the windows will began to lose their insulation and students will be forced to keep bundled in the classroom during colder months. It’s another building to steal what could have been given back to nature.

Now in all honesty, this post might be kind of short because I’ve actually not been having a good writing type of week! I had written some of a post but didn’t really get the chance to finish it out so I thought it would be fun to show you the beauty I got to see and hopefully encourage you to check the show out! I like to call it the Comic Cons of the flower fandom. It had beautiful sculptures and stories, but it also had art, clothing stalls, flower stalls, jewelry stalls, food stalls, postcard stalls, glasses accessories stalls, and any other stalls you can think of! I had not been made aware of PHS’s game. And the space in general is pumped so much with life you can feel the subtle fragrances through your nose and the burst of fresh spring air in your lungs. So take the time to go through each of the pictures below to admire the art and the artists with the vibrant life of flowers.

On poor reporting form and rookie mistakes, I do not have the specific creator of each exhibit, but you can find your favorites at this link here (and more awesome exhibitors!)

Don’t mind the lady talking, I don’t know why she took it so seriously…

Again, if you are ever in Philly during the flower show (which is usually in March I believe) check it out! And plan for it to be an all day thing if you want to take your time. Next year, I want to go with friends and do some shopping, check out the guest speakers and activities they have, and try some of their fun beverages!

Thank you so much for reading!! Have a wonderful day!
